The Unintentional Experiment

I fell off the eat-better wagon.  Yeah, that fast.  The reason behind it was complicated and this post isn’t a ‘I’m guilty’ thing but rather I’m making it something positive.  I’m working on turning the eating habits around right now but in the 5 days I went back to eating horribly, I noticed a few things.

The first being that the same night the bad habits came back, I had horrible acid reflux that continued every night after.  It’s not something I equated with bad eating, but it makes sense.  Mark over at Mark’s Daily Apple made an interesting post regarding GERD symptoms and causes that really struck home with me today.  A lot of the things he goes over there are things I am actively dealing with.

A few other things I noticed:

  • A very sudden loss of energy
  • Less control over how much I ate
  • Strong sugar cravings
  • Quick bloating / weight gain
  • Less water craving

That was just 5 days and I backtracked nearly all the way back to where I started.  Often times I get to this point and I just get upset and frustrated and give up.  Instead I really do want to use this to point something out to myself and keep it as the reminder.  It might be easier to give in to the bad diet when you’re in a hurry or to make it easier on others but it’s NOT worth it. It IS worth it to get back on track and focus on making myself healthier and happier.

Looking forward…
